Grand March is a special opportunity to recognize our 2026 Homecoming Court, along with the many Heritage students who represent our school through extracurriculars and activities. On Monday, September 14th, several Heritage freshmen and 8th-grade students were honored at the Voice/Craft Ceremony at Parkland College. The Voice/Craft program celebrates students' written works from local school districts. Students’ poetry and prose were read and critiqued by professors at Parkland College. A copy of the Voice/Craft 2026 edition book can be found at the Homer Community Library.
Thank you to the Voice/Craft program for giving our students a platform to share their ideas and congratulations to our Heritage students who have become published authors!

Today, Heritage paused to remember and honor the lives lost and the many heroes of September 11, 2001, on the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
Throughout the morning, our schools observed moments of silence marking the times the North Tower, South Tower, Pentagon, and Flight 93 were struck.
At Homer, our 7th and 8th Grade Band performed the Star-Spangled Banner during morning assembly. At Broadlands, Heritage High School trumpet students closed the school day with a moving performance of Taps in Echo.
We are grateful for the thoughtful and respectful ways our students and staff honored this important day in our nation’s history.
May we continue to remember the lives lost, honor those who served and sacrificed, and reflect on the courage, unity, and compassion shown in the days that followed.

With the intense heat this week keeping our Hawks indoors a little more than usual, these have been especially appreciated. They give students a fun way to stay active while keeping indoor noise levels manageable, and as you can see, they’re already getting plenty of use! 🏀😊

As we begin the school year, we are seeing an increase in students bringing energy drinks and sodas to school, so we want to remind everyone of our district expectations regarding beverages during the school day.
Because of the high levels of caffeine found in many energy drinks and the potential impact on student health, focus, and overall well-being, sodas and energy drinks are not permitted during the school day. In addition, students should not bring canned beverages of any kind to school.
Some energy drinks contain 200-300 mg of caffeine in a single can, which is significantly more than many students and families may realize.
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school each day. Water is always an acceptable and encouraged choice, and milk and juice continue to be available through our regular meal offerings.
We appreciate families helping us reinforce this expectation at home. Our goal is simple: to support students in feeling their best and being ready to learn throughout the school day.
Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a healthy, focused learning environment and for our Hawks.
