Elementary/Junior High Announcements:

1. The next JH Track meet will be IESA Sectionals, which will begin TODAY, May 3, 2024, in Rantoul at 2:00 PM. The Activity Van will leave from Homer ONLY at 12:30 PM. Good Luck!

2. JH Track Sectionals will continue on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Rantoul at 9:00 AM. The bus will leave Broadlands at 7:15 AM and Homer at 7:30 AM. Good luck!

3. A JH Cross Country meeting will be on Sunday, May 5th, at 5:00 PM for all incoming 5th—current 7th graders and at 5:20 PM for all incoming freshmen and current juniors. This meeting will be held in the all-purpose gym at the Heritage Elementary/JH building in Homer. If you cannot attend, please email Coach Montgomery at heritagehawkshscrosscountry@

• Students must have no disciplinary issues moving forward (from April 25th to the end of the school year). This includes detentions, suspensions and ODRs. This applies to class time, study halls, lunch and recess (it basically applies to the entire day here at school).

• Students cannot be failing more than one class.

• If a student cannot attend the Homer Lake day trip that student will be expected to stay home for that day.

• No vehicles are permitted in the circle drive where buses drop off in the morning or afternoon, and you must stay in your car when dropping off in the drop-off lane. 

• If you send snacks or treats for a class, please remember that no home-baked goods can be shared.  All items must be pre-packaged and in-store box containers.

• If your student will be gone for a doctor’s appointment, please have him/her bring a note from the doctor upon returning to school to show that he/she was there. Otherwise, the school will mark the absence unexcused.

• Please remember that smoking and vaping are prohibited on school grounds and that seat belts should be adequately fastened around children as they are picked up or dropped off on school property.

• Please remember to discuss with your student whether or not he/she will be eating breakfast/lunch offered at the school this year.  Menus are available as needed.

• If you need to pick up or drop anything off to a student or staff member in the building, please call and make arrangements with office staff before you do so.

1. The

   Homer American Legion scholarship

   is due on May 5.

2. All library books checked out need to be returned by May 10th!

3. AP Testing dates: AP English will be 5/8 starting at 8:15 a.m., AP History will be 5/10 starting at 8:15 a.m., AP Calculus will be 5/13 starting at 8:15 a.m., and AP Biology will be 5/16 starting at 12 p.m.

4. Cross-country meeting, Sunday, May 5th: All incoming 5th graders and current 7th graders will meet at 5 p.m., and all incoming freshmen and current juniors will meet at 5:20 p.m. The meeting will be held in the all-purpose gym at the Junior High. 5.  Summer Drivers Ed. will start on May 13th at 7:00 a.m. for students who have signed up.

• Parents: If you are sending cash to the school to be applied to a fee or a fundraiser, please be sure it is in an envelope labeled with the student’s name and what it is for. Thank you.

• Parents: This is a reminder that if your student is absent for 5 or more consecutive days due to illness, they must have a doctor’s note to return to school, or the absences will be considered unexcused.

• Lunch Reminder: Lunches at the HS are now $2.70 per lunch. You may pay for your student's lunches via cash, check at the school office or the TeacherEase app.

• Parents: Just a reminder that if your student will not be in school for the day, please be sure you are calling the office to let us know. Your student will be marked as an unexcused absence for the day if we have not heard from you. Thank you.
