For the first time in well over a month, Heritage CUSD #8 is reporting a positive COVID-19 case for a Heritage High School student.

A very important note to parents, please emphasize to your child/student that if having any symptoms including fever, loss of taste, or loss of smell, please do not come to school or attend any events or extracurricular activities and seek testing immediately while also notifying the school for direction.  Early and quick detection limits spread and those who may be affected by exposure leading to quarantine.

Please continue to report and communicate with the main offices, administration, and school nurse DiAnne Boyd when anything develops at home including symptoms, possible exposures, and any testing outcomes.

Heritage Schools uses the BinaxNow rapid COVID test (by parent consent) which can
be used in the moment at school if a student or school employee has
symptoms or documented exposure. It is a great tool that can keep employees and students in school.

Confirmed cases are communicated to the district by Champaign Urbana Public Health District
(CUPHD).  CUPHD will also direct the district on the quarantine
timelines for confirmed cases and/or exposures.

A continuing aspect for COVID safety this school year is that an individual's vaccination status can effect the timeline and protocol for handling school cases for both students old enough to be vaccinated and employees. We will only ask vaccination status when necessary to keep everyone safe and in school.
